One year on orbit – mission success !!!

BEESAT was started on Sep. 23rd, 2009. Today our satellite thus has reached its design lifetime of one year.
During this period BEESAT has made a total of 5300 evolutions around Earth. We have so far collected 85404 analysable telemetry frames.
Some flight results:

BEESAT is the first pico satellite on orbit designed in a fault-tolerant way (except for the experimental payload).
Remaining critical points have been identified and will be addressed in future missions. The main challenge here is a redundant power system, the implemented redundancy in battery and charge regulator is a first step.
Until now there has been no need to activate the built-in redundancy in any subsystem.
Power budget, link budget and thermal behaviour are stable and within the expected range.
Verification of the reaction wheel system has been performed successfully on orbit.

Given the results we can say, that pico satellites can be an available
and cost-effective verification platform for the Low Earth Orbit.
