During a more extensive test campaign in April, plenty of Radio Amateurs helped us collect data concerning the performance of the software update from earlier this year. With this and previous data, PhD student Philip Bangert was able to win the Student Conference at the 10th IAA Symposium on Small Satellites For Earth Observation, where he presented his paper on “In-orbit Performance of UWE-3”:
While having its focus on the attitude determination and control system (ADCS) and other satellite systems, the contribution of the Radio Amateur community was well mentioned!
Now we are preparing a new software update to further improve and facilitate attitude control and other aspects of operation. Therefore, the UWE-3 satellite is transmitting at 437.385 MHz and is regularly toggling between the operating and redundant on-board computer.
We would especially appreciate the support of the HAM community during this period and we would like to thank you very much for your helpful support!
Yours sincerely,
UWE-3 Team
