NOAA 17 has scan motor problems with rising motor currents.
Constant rephase by the MIRP is causing data dropouts on all the HRPT stream and APT and GAC derivatives. Auto re-phase will be disabled this week (cw 14) to study extent of problem and to allow a solution to be engineered if possible.

  1. I notice an occasional perfect picture from Noaa 17, do the operators sometimes allow the motor current to rise as an experiment ?

  2. At present the engineers have it rigged so that on most passes a useful picture can be obtained using one channel
