AO-73 August 2nd Update

Greetings to the Group,

Spin Period

27 July 2018 = 63.8 seconds (from averaged panel temperatures)
28 July 2018 = 62.8 seconds (from averaged panel temperatures)
29 July 2018 = 61.0 seconds (from averaged panel temperatures)
30 July 2018 = 60.1 seconds (from averaged panel temperatures)
31 July 2018 = 59.9 seconds (from averaged panel temperatures)
01 Aug 2018 = 58.8 seconds (from averaged panel temperatures)
02 Aug 2018 = 58.5 seconds (from averaged panel temperatures)

Currently there appear to be two “inertial forces” influencing the spin period.
1. The magnetic forces produced by the PA current when the transponder is ON at the weekend, reacting with the earth’s magnetic field.
2. The Propeller Effect as the eclipse periods shorten, now at 20 minutes per orbit.
AO-73 will be in full sunlight on or around 8th September.
